Grandma's Stories

Grandma, Tell Me a Story
is a collection of 52 Bible stories for children. Click here for Table of Contents. The stories are brought into the world of contemporary children by a Grandma who tells a Bible story to her grandchildren, Joey and Amy, each time they come to visit at her big house. Joey, who is eight years old, and Amy, who is six, often express their feelings about the events in the stories and ask questions. Grandma’s answers provide additional interesting facts about life in Bible times or about what the story means. Great effort has been made to keep the language at a level understandable to children. Children are encouraged to spend more time with each story by the coloring picture included with each one. Parents or teachers reading the stories to a group of children may photocopy the full-page coloring pictures for use with the children. About the Author:

Shirley Myers has spent most of her life spreading knowledge of the Bible with both children and adults. She taught Bible clubs and worked in vacation Bible schools in her youth. She also has often taught Sunday school throughout the years.

Shirley was a writer of Sunday school curriculum, take-home papers, and daily devotionals for more than twenty years. Several publishers, including Union Gospel Press, the Church of the Nazarene, and American Baptist Churches have made use of her writing skills (publication credits). She has received writing awards at St. Davids Christian Writers’ Conference and became president of that writing association.

Rev. Shirley Myers also has had a second career as a pastor in American Baptist Churches for ten years and continues to do supply preaching in various denominations and speaking at meetings as requested (click here for speaker information). She is a graduate of Davis College when it was known as Practical Bible Training School. She had additional training for ministry with American Baptist Churches (Click for Christian Service Experience).

Mrs. Myers lives near Syracuse, New York, with her husband of 50 years. They have been blessed with five children (now adults) and eight grandchildren.  (family pictures).
